This series 'Suspended in Time' captures the stunning and muted beauty of a dancer's physique. It was her wish to document the suppleness of her still youthful body. Having experienced a severe injury that sidelined her, she decided to undress for the camera in an attempt to lift up her spirits. Since she was also turning 30 and to mark this passage, taking these photos acted as a gift to herself.
Having established a previous relationship while acting as the photographer for her dance company, the ease with which we worked together made for a very successful interchange. Light streaming into the studio from the very large windows adorning it, acted as the perfect backdrop to enhance her delicate features. As a dancer, her familiarity with her body through movement translated to embracing the camera as her audience and to perform with exquisite grace.
