Amidst a global pandemic, I became interested in the idea of creating a community around the body. As we're forced to live more slowly and reckon with the self, there is a collective intimacy we share in caring for our bodies.
I set out to create a space to share this intimacy and showcase divine design--the skin’s beauty, its natural folds and creases, and the sculptures our skins cloak over like cloth.
The parts of ourselves we love. The parts of ourselves we hate.
I wanted to celebrate the bodies of Black people with a special focus on women. There is such a beautiful range of complexions and textures among us, gorgeous in spectrum. These are narrative portraits starring our cavities, favorite nooks, and soft spots.
