Photojournalism 2nd place winner

This was may first photography trip after I bought my Canon T7 camera in 2020. I ventured in June onto the street of Manhattan despite fear of COVID. I came to document the Black Lives Matter protest which was coincidental with the Gay Pride March (which was officially canceled). So it became Black Queer Lives Matter. I quickly decided that this even will be best photographed in black and white. I tried to capture individual participants and what this movement meant to them.
