Solitary Confinement (Series)
DESCRIPTION
We keep pets in order to assuage our own loneliness, then keep them in sterile artificial environments, separated from their families and members of their own species, in solitary confinement and we call this “love”. I wonder if we ever think about life from their point of view?
AUTHOR
Jo Knight is a self taught photographer based in the English Lake District. She took up photography as a complete novice in 2013 and has since been awarded the title of Master of Print by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain and been exhibited both in print and online in 22 countries.
In 2020 Jo was the global winner of a photography competition endorsed by 17 of the world's masters of photography and run by the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique to commemorate the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jo’s pictures are based in nature and the human experience, often marrying her love of wildlife with her portrayal of life’s challenges through the eyes of women. She frequently uses composite photography to create distinctive narratives celebrating girls and telling powerful stories.
A previous FAPA nominee in 2021, 2022 & 2023.
