Portrait nominee

I currently interested in human emotions, psychology and the different layers of the human psyche. Every person has a shadow side (cf. Carl Jung) and your 'other self' or alter ego can be a friend or foe. While looking at a person their expression gives an impression of how they feel, but at the same time on the inside their real mental state could be different or even the opposite of what shows. I this image I have tried to depict the ambiguity in human expression, the alter ego or shadow self.

I am a photographer and visual artist based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Since my teens, photography has always been one of my passions. I studied Photographic Design at the Dutch Academy for Image Creation (https://navb.nl/). My work is inspired by eastern philosophy, and art movements such expressionism, Art Deco and surrealism. By creating aesthetic images, I aim to stimulate thought on societal issues. I'm interested in issues such as environmental pollution and climate change, transformations in life styles and the human psyche and emotional states. Keywords are transience, impermanence, decay, trauma, shadow(self), perception and spirituality.
My work has been exhibited at a number of expo's and published.
I was awarded as 'amateur Fine Art Portrait Nominee' at the Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA) in 2020/2021. At FAPA 2023-24 I was awarded Nominee status in the Fine Art amateur category.
