This photo is a self-portrait inspired by Amelia Earhart, an American aviator celebrated for her flight marks and for attempting the first air trip around the world above the equatorial line. The sad story of this brave woman captivated me to make this self-portrait.
Amelia was a woman ahead of her time, she was the first woman to make a solo flight in the Atlantic, the first person to do it twice, the longest distance flown by a woman without stop and record for crossing it in the shortest time.
She was known as Lady Lindy, for her resemblance to the aviator Charles Lindbergh, the first pilot to cross the Atlantic Ocean, from west to east.
In addition to her work in aeronautics and promoting aviation among women, she was a volunteer nurse in the First World War.
In 1937 she made the journey around the world that would cost her life, disappearing in 1937 in the Pacific Ocean.
Some studies assure that Amelia died as a castaway on the island of Nikumaroro and others did not, the fact is that the mystery of her disappearance remains unsolved.
