The photograph is a metaphor of the feeling of extreme isolation, playing on the recent experiences that the global pandemic caused. People who used to have control over their lives in a “sea” of options, now render to the power of immobilization and paralysis making us hostages of online shopping as the only way of “being”.
This picture is part of the series Peabirus, which is a reference to the extensive network of ancient passages in the South American continent. This network interconnected indigenous ethnicities before the colonization of the Spanish and the Portuguese took place. The word Peabirus stems from the Tupi and Guarani tribes of the Atlantic coast to the pre-Inca Andean region. Peabirus therefore is an artistic mention to all the trails we wander throughout life, and it’s importance to connect people.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Born in 1985 in Brazil - Ralf went on to live for short periods of time in Mexico, the USA, England, Italy and finally settled in Barcelona. Working for more than twelve years in multinational companies, Ralf oscillates between life as an office worker and life as a fine art photographer. His style can be identified as that of a purist, who only uses analog film and produces work without editing. Recurring topics are “leisure and pleasure” of ordinary people like you and me. He captures these moments in people’s lives and give them a stage through art, because after just another day, this is what defines us.
