Wildlife/Animals nominee

A series of portraits from various animals encountered on 4 different continents. The aim is to show how wildlife can be different and at the same time, I did want to get images where I capt the intimate spirit of the animal doing its portrait.

Japan : Young snow monkey in full thinking
China : Golden Snub-monkey, mother with its 3 weeks old offspring
Europe: Male ibex between snow and fog
North America : Brown bear having its meal during salmon run
Africa : A male mountain gorilla having a glance at the photographer

Philippe Ricordel has led his photographic activity as a tireless traveler who has lived in several countries,in his quest for images of wild animals.

"If the image is beautiful, then beyond the testimony there may be the emotion, the extra soul, which will make the public more aware of the need to preserve what I offer them to see. And if my work is only a tiny part of what should be undertaken, but that it serves to make everyone aware of the nature that surrounds them and of the absolute necessity to protect it, then yes, I would have achieved my goal"

He is the author of 3 technical books on the use of digital development software at Editions Eyrolles, and has contributed to the illustration of scientific works.
