Meeting of the “heavyweights” of the avian world. The fight for prey in the winter is a real challenge for birds. Even if they have a strong beak and sharp claws. These rough-legged hawks were photographed from cover in a frosty winter morning. Having studied the biotope, I was able to get closer to the powerful creatures and watch the fight of two predatory birds for prey. The frosty air was filled with the sound of their claws, and the atmosphere was pierced by trembling screams. In half a minute, the outcome of the fight was decided. An unforgettable scene. Such fights sometimes end very painfully for the loser, because a large prey in the 20-degree frost is rare.

Author of the publication in the national ranking periodicals "Ukrainska Pravda" ("Ukrainian Truth") and "Den" ("Day"). He has interned at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. Winner of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Prize for Outstanding Achievements of Youth in Development of Ukraine and received a Mykhailo Hrushevskyi academic scholarship for PhD students.
