Breathe in or expire (triptych)
Metallic balloons and glass
Even if these vacations had been superb, there was still an uneasiness, an impression of emptiness, of lack. At the beginning it was just a vague idea, but as I unfolded the film I became aware of what I had missed, the spontaneity, breathing, sharing the same
air with the other without anguish.
Covid 19 and masks, hygiaphone have introduced a discomfort in our society, establishing the withdrawal into oneself and a fear of the other.
The already sick world without covid, nationalism, authoritarianism, confessionalism, impoverishment, global warming... does not have a bright future to offer.
Set in a quasi-clinical atmosphere with cold, scenic lighting, these knotted, twisted balloons that go nowhere, whose air is imprisoned without being able to escape, are a metaphor for this sick society. Through these triptychs, I wanted to translate the decay of our human relationships, the withdrawal into oneself, the absense of perspective, the deadlock.

AUTHOR
Vincent Junier (1964), living and working in Champigny sur Marne - France
