Nynke Brandsma is an independent photographer who grew up in the north of the Netherlands and currently lives in Amsterdam. Nynke photographs staged scenes in the landscape in his own and sometimes alienating way. In addition to staged location work, Nynke makes documentary and conceptual work in which non-judgment and a search for human action and meaning are central. She questions herself but also herself in relation to the world. She is guided by a strong curiosity and works towards what has meaning for her in an intuitive and investigative way. The why question is both her friend and foe, but it is an important motivation to get started with the camera.
Nynke started photographing in 2017. She studied at the photo academy and the photo school in Amsterdam. In 2018 she won the first prize for up-and-coming talent from the Fotohuis and was part of the Naarden photo festival. In 2019 she was selected as New Dutch Photography Talent. This was followed by Fresh Eyes where she became 1 of the 100 up-and-coming photography talents in Europe. She participated in the &C talent program and the Visa Pour L'image student program.
