INTRO
As a result of the collaboration between the plastic artist Irene Cases and me, “Carnale” is a celebration of the feminine body.
Taking inspiration from the mannerist paintings, especially from Pontormo in terms of composition, the images shows 9 women connecting together through the art pieces of
Irene: the carnality of her art becomes wearable for the first time.
All the characters are different in terms of appearance, and they are not selected depending on standard criteria of beauty. It’s a celebration of humanity as it is, normalizing bodies, including all their precious differences.
CONCEPT
“Carnale” is our shell, the appearance that has been given to us, humans, with bodies of tissues and bones, subject to changes dictated by time.
Focusing on women's bodies, The project highlights all their differences and peculiarities, celebrating what should never be criticised and abused or victim of taboos and ostentation, of precarious fashions and laws. Teasing the senses of the observer through textures and colours of our flesh, “Carnale” talks about feminine support and empowerment.
