During my time in Venice, I noticed a close interconnection between the covered engines of the boats moored along the canals and our society. They are symbols that emerged from the sea. Sculptures dressed in contrasts and flags, covered and protected but also constrained and concealed in a form. Like people with a submerged unconscious and an aspect linked to their culture. These visions evoke the concept of identity and multiculturalism in a fragile, fragile society like the city of Venice. By transposing them, I expose them as witnesses of this essence in a period of particular change.
P.S. The photographs were taken on 6x7 medium format film and subsequently printed and scanned. These five photographs are part of a unpublished series and are a tribute to the city of Venice, from which they take the linear shape of its perimeter.
