This project is part of a portrait series I am currently working with.
It is an idea I have worked with out of a place of frustration and helplessness.
As a white mother, of a mixed daughter that as urly on as 2 years old started talking about her hair and her curls, and compared herself to other little girls, and expressed how she wanted different hair than she has.
As any mother, I find my daughter as the most beautiful human beeing on the planet. I love every curl on her head. I love every freckle, every mark.
I have felt frustrated in what I can do to show my daughter just how beautiful diversity is.
I have later learned that there are so many moms feeling the same way I do. That try their hardest to show they're daughters that what they might see as imperfection, the world sees as beauty.
The Portrait series ALL BEAUTY is a current project I am working on, photographing girls of different races, ethnicity, and looks.
I want to create a series of portraits that brings out the absolute beauty of diversity.
Nothing beats showing the back of my camera to these young girls, and see they're face light up when they see how stunning they truly are.
