Spirits of the Pink Lake (Single)
DESCRIPTION
Along the northeastern coast of Dirk Hartog Island are the pink lakes, coloured by algae which form after a period of rain. These are surrounded by brown-black scrubland, all contrasted by the pastel turquoise of a becalmed sea. But look closely at this ancient land where the burnt scrub takes on various shapes; of animals and tortured spirits.
AUTHOR
I am a retired physicist who has photographed most of my life, inter¬weaving photography with my scientific career that has extended over 40 years.
My fascination with photography started in the 1960s with the publication of the iconic image of a baboon in full flight turning to confront the chasing leopard. Today, the image still acts as a carrot on a stick, taunting me to achieve its standard with the taking of the next photograph. Combine this with the excitement of travel and the world becomes an amazing place, providing opportunity across the photographic genres of landscapes, cityscapes, events, portraits and wildlife.
I am an accredited professional photographer at the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers, and have spent 2019-2020 entering various international photographic competitions gaining a number of awards.
