The picture shows the setting Moon in first Quater, which sets behind two peaks of Central bohemian uplands, Czech Republic. It is a volcanic landscape so the the peaks have the similar shape to Stratovolcanoes but they are only relicts of underground volcanic process of Tertiary period.
The low clouds in the valley are a very rare phenomena there and it is great barrier against strong light pollution in Northern Bohemia. The Moon shone perfectly into fog while the fog was moving so it looks like a waves on sea. So I was lucky with this scene. The position of the Moon is correct, only exposure bracketing was used to deal with extreme brightness differences.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Since 2016 I am walking landscapes with my photo backpack and tripod. It was my love to mountains and to nature in general that brought me to the landscapes photographing. First I started as classical tourist making pictures during my trips, but as time went on, it was more and more about targeted expeditions for a picture, sometimes staying overnight waiting for first morning sun rays.
When photographing I am focusing on less known places and trying to bring some new perspectives during different daily periods and year seasons.
Awards:
NASA astronomy picture of the day
2x3. and 2. place in Czech Nature Photo
