The topic of my project "career ladder" is the abstract, but legible representation of artistic people in relation to their activity.
Art and culture are a big part of our society and we encounter them constantly thanks to the possibility of accessing them from anywhere. This global, all-encompassing networking has stretched the pool of creative works to unimaginable dimensions. This mass can quickly become overwhelmed and so we tend to consume products without much appreciation. We click through playlists while we wait for the train or look at several photographs at the same time on a tiny screen to pass the time on the toilet.
The creative process and the engagement with art thus fade into the background. These rapid changes have fundamentally changed the art market and require a great deal of adaptation by artists.
This is not the only reason why conflicts can arise in a wide variety of areas in creative work. Artists regularly question their work. The consequences can be blockages, but in some cases also social isolation.
Even if the internet and social networks can offer a large platform, many artists feel compelled to meet certain expectations in order to be noticed at all.
