After that terrible night where her husband attacked her with acid out of a rage fueled by jealousy, despite the pain and psychological distress caused by the anxiety for her appearance, Nilima was able to overcome this fear and move on with her life.
She remained strong in the face of the inevitable reality of a different future from the one she had imagined and after a long dark period from which she thought she would never get out she found the courage to reclaim her life, defeating violence, depression and despair.
After long years of treatment, she made the decision to become a nurse to take care of new patients who, like her, are victims of this terrible act which unfortunately has not yet disappeared.

“Although it is difficult to express, I thinkthat the photograph represents my way of speaking and what I try to do throughmy language is to capture the sense of what I breathe and touch with my hands. Not only in appearance but also, and especially, in the essence; trying toexpress nuances and subtleties contained in a single frame. I think that’s partof my personality and my work fully expresses what I am. My story, my soul”.
