The "Grande Hotel" in Beira was once the "Pride of Africa". Built in the 1950s, closed down as a result of the fight for independence. Today up to 3000 people live there between rubbish and dirt. Ema is one of these people and I was allowed to visit her in her room.
AUTHOR
Meike Schrömbgens was born in 1976, in Solingen(Germany). After graduating from high school, she trained as a commercial photographer and has been working as a freelance photographer since 2000.
