Poya is the day of the full moon in South East Asian countries. It is the occasion to celebrate an event in the life of Buddha. On Poya days, stores are closed, no alcohol is drunk and a vegetarian diet is followed.
At night, the moonlight calls the monks to question themselves about the ephemeral and the transitory.
The Poya day in May (May full moon) commemorates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha master. This particular Poya day is called Vesak.
In this photo, I try to show this mystical and magical link monks have with the moon.
