Conscious is a piece of poetic imagery stemming from my experiences with anxiety. Through a process of instinctive shooting, the project took shape as I began to unravel elements of myself after leaving home and exploring the world without parental provision. Considering the dynamics within my own upbringing, I turned to exploring the deep concept of my subconscious, creating an image to decipher my own emotional response to the responsibilities of my mind and the way I think. In relation to my mind overthinking, visually it was important for me to construct this metaphoric message visualising my own experience with anxiety within a photographic form. Overlaying these two specific images together formed this representation of how my mind feels, this eruption of growth tearing straight through my mind.
The underlying beauty and melancholia of visuals translate into the confusion of emotion represented within my experiences as a young adultescents starting out alone in the world, but also the huge intensity of responsibility felt through this. The imagery that I produced resonated to my feelings and experiences of isolation and incarceration of the mind, acting as a journey of mental health.
