The Tour de France starts on August 29, 2020 in the hotspot and risk area of the corona pandemic
The number of daily positive tests is 4,000 per day, and the situation in Nice is particularly tense.
Masks are mandatory everywhere in the city. The Federal Republic of Germany has classified Nice as a risk area and issued travel warnings and imposed restrictions.
The Tour de France - one of the world's biggest sporting events - will still start on August 29th in Nice, on the sunny Cote d ‘Azur. Spectators from all over the world flock to the city to watch the cycling spectacle along the way.
On the last weekend in August, a mix of locals, tour fans and several thousand professional tour guides (journalists, technicians, law enforcement officers, police officers, the fire brigade and the 22 cycling teams) gather around the city for the start of the tour move the “show stages” in Nice.
As an accredited documentarist of the mega event (with 20 Tour de France participations), I concentrate on the extremely tense and sensitive Corona situation in the city.
