Tree of Life (Single)
DESCRIPTION
The tree is seen as a sacred symbol, which carries significant meanings in both religious and spiritual philosophies. When I photographed this tree from above the surrounding sheep tracks combined with the fallen tree reminded me of the Tree of Life. While this symbolizes many different things, for me it communicates the connectedness of all things and the cycling of life.
AUTHOR
Connecting with Boodja (Country) is such an important aspect of my photography. It is such a contrast to feel very grounded in a landscape while viewing it from an aerial perspective. While drone photography has enabled us to capture landscapes in a new medium, it is important to acknowledge that this perspective has been documented by Aboriginal peoples for thousands of years.
The colour, pattern and texture of the diverse, ever-changing landscapes of Western Australia always astounds me. Often these aspects are not visible when driving through flat areas of the Wheatbelt, Mid West and Goldfields regions. My drone work contains aspects of photographic realism and abstract notions. Through exploring and photographing Country from an aerial perspective my aim is to share the beauty of the land, and let the subject matter speak for itself.
