The ghost city of Kolmanskop (Namibia) was built at the beginning of the XXth century and abandoned fifty years later when the diamonds mine was exhausted. Dunes are now invading the city which slowly vanishes. Through doors and windows, falling walls and broken roofs, the sand regains its place. Kolmanskop becomes a giant hourglass, metaphor of human vanity and all-powerful time.
Dune has no memory, no own will, no project. It is... Carried by the desert winds, sand erases the tracks of everything. Carried by the desert winds, sand is the present and includes the forgotten past, and an unknown future. Both moving and motionless, the dune is the mirror of the subjective time of the photographer who remains her footprints in the sands of time.
