Fine Art nominee

Sanuya is a self-portrait series. The use of gold has been incorporated in both painted textures, costumes and lighting to manifest Greek tradition of the representation of gold: the fire of light; dominion; a centre of warmth; love; generosity; knowledge; and radiance. The series has been created to form a pyramid shape, with the centre image larger in size, to resemble in mythology 'the hill which emerged from the primaeval waters when the earth came into being and thus represents existence'. The elements are combined to simultaneously represent what is fundamentally feminine, resilience, beauty, strength, authenticity and knowledge.

Kelly Long is a fine art photographer, specialising in self-portraiture. She crafts evocative and beautifully imagined images that encapsulate the emotional aspects of being human. Her self-portraiture work explores the vulnerabilities, fears and hopes that connect us all.
