The Dream of the Wood (Single)
DESCRIPTION
The Dream of the Wood is a seasonal narrative of a deciduous ancient woodland in south-east England. According to the Woodland Trust, just 2% of the UK’s landmass is covered in ancient woodland and the threats to them which include climate change and inappropriate development, are increasing. This photograph, which has taken over a year to complete, is a celebration of woodlands and some of the species that they support, season by season. Each species was scanned separately, using the flatbed scanner as a lens. It was then composed into one image post-production to form the seasonal narrative. I want to give the viewer a physiological experience of the woodland space where there is no one focal point, where the eyes move freely across the piece.
