During the sixth, emotionally draining, Covid lockdown in Melbourne it became increasingly important to prioritise mental wellbeing just to be able to provide some relief from the constant barrage of negative news. So, on one particularly difficult day, I took my camera with me on my daily walk just to attempt to get some respite. I am lucky that I have a few different types of landscapes within the 5KM radius for which we were permitted to exercise in so decided to go to an area I know well, that has both a beach, grass and water, but without any preconceived ideas on any images I may capture.
As I strolled through the grass on the foreshore I looked out to the bay and saw this lone boat with a single person seemingly frozen and completely oblivious to anything else around him. Luckily, the only lens I had on my camera was my telephoto lens, so I snapped away, hand held, hoping to capture this scene of pure isolation and with a momentary lack of any breeze I was able to secure the photograph I had began to envisage.
