Surface Fiction (Series)
DESCRIPTION
All is not what it seems. I am interested in how the human “eye sees” and then the “brain interprets” what is seen to make a final determination of the visual. I like to present the audience with not just one immediate captured moment but rather a seemingly subtle yet very complex layering of imagery that invites visual interpretation.
This series of works features photographic artworks created during the current global health crisis. Through my lens I have captured multiple graphic urban shapes, objects, textures and shadows which I then remove from the noise and distraction of everyday urban life and silence in an unexpected minimalist environment. These captures are then layered and assembled as collages that form together to create striking contemplative imagery. It is within this moment of contemplation that the audience is momentarily taken away from their reality and find themselves within the poetic spell of the pictures.
