The series ‘Witnesses of time’ explores life’s natural resilience and adaptive qualities through a series of still life photographs of wood sculptures.
Presented in an isolated context, the sculptures construct their own reality. Through the blending of organic shapes and textures with crafted carvings, the wood’s natural qualities and the sculptings
merge into one. They tell a story of the progression of time,
adaptability and the adversity that all lifeforms endure.
Even past its lifecycle, the wood remains as a testament to what has gone before, there to be reshaped into something new that can be carried forward into the future.

AUTHOR
Sander Vos (b. 1988, The Netherlands) is a photographer based in London. His work contains an element of Surrealism, blending Fine Art with Portraiture. Allowing his subjects to be immersed in a state of contemplation, Vos sets out to veil as much as to reveal, leaving gaps for the viewer to fill in.
Inspired by his background in Design, he embraces light and contrast as devices to carve out his graphic compositions.
His work has recently been exhibited at Photo London Digital and has received recognition from the AOP Awards as well as several honourable mentions at the IPA 21.
