Stasis (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The objects in this series represent some of the major sporting events that have been suspended, postponed or cancelled since the introduction of lock-downs in March 2020 to combat the global spread of Covid-19. Although not essential to our existence, it quickly became clear that the sporting calendar gives structure, joy and purpose to billions around the world. Most domestic football leagues were suspended and Euro 2020 was postponed. In tennis, Roland Garros was postponed and Wimbledon cancelled completely. Even the Tokyo Olympic Games, set to begin in July 2020, was postponed until 2021.
