Nudes nominee

During the first pandemic lockdown I was asked to participate in the Floral Album. An initiative by artist Corry Zwart, who reached out to twenty artists from different disciplines to create a reaction to one of her works. I received a photograph called blue ballet. Inspired by the colors, the shape and feeling of the image I created my own blue ballet. After finishing her Floral Album, Corry and us artists got the invite to exhibit the whole collection in the Floral Art Museum of Aalsmeer. A great opportunity to expand my one image into a three-hatch. The result is a small series about fall, dance and rise. A Ballet of Life.

Sjoukje van Gool (1982) grew up surrounded by nature: water and woods. The images, sensations and colours of these remain deeply ingrained in her being, and these colours are reflected in her work: the greens and browns of the woods; the blue shades of water and sky. As a photographer, she captures reality as she sees and feels it: a dreamt world that can be anywhere, any time. Sjoukje runs and owns an underwaterstudio near Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
