The art project titled Photoreographia is the realization of the photographic concept, that is based on the research of resolving the contradiction between dance (a movement through time), and photography (the imprint of a moment).
Photoreographia is an act of merge, where a particular choreography, that was choreographed by professional choreographers for this occasion is captured into a unique image which reflects both the choreographers and photographers artistic choices.
All the images in this series are photographed from above. The camera is placed on the light supporting system pointing downwards to the stage. The choice of perspective has two main reasons: it creates an unusual viewer experience that allows one to see the whole dance choreography spread out on the stage, making it look like an abstract form that was formed by the dancer upon the choreographer’s artistic decisions. The composition of the images is uniform. The black background supports the complex motion to be shown in one single image. When people look at Photoreographia images, some say they see them as an imprint of the choreographer’s artistic signature. What a coincidence? The word “choreography”,derived from the Greek language, literally means “dancewriting”.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
My name is András Dobi, I’m a fine art photographer, born in Hungary. Currently I live and work in Munich. I come from the field of performing arts as I was educated as professional ballet dancer and practiced my profession for many years. During the last couple of years of my dance career I mastered the technical aspect of photography to be able to combine my artistic approach with photography. My future plan is to explore the world of fine art photography and set my own artistic signature. I’m eager to implement the contemporary elements of the theatrical look to a creative process to create a unique look to my style.
