Portrait nominee

I have long been preoccupied with suffering and overcoming suffering, the need to be aware, to discover the path to finding the existential connection tying human beings to one another.
The characters in this series were all born in Iran, but their families immigrated from Afghanistan in the past. These immigrants to Iran have experienced many difficulties, but their younger generation is entering diverse artistic and professional communities, creating different conditions for themselves.
This generation may still follow a framework of their own beliefs and traditions, but this framework is not as rigid as it was in the past, as we can see in the images. Eyes that have never been seen before now see and are direct observers of the world.
The cheerful and vibrant palette of this series is inspired by the rich colors of the traditional clothing of their homeland. Perhaps the present narrative and the change in my imagery is a step towards a better view of ourselves and our fellow travelers around the world. The name of this series is also inspired by the idea that although we live in different lands, we are all related, all coming from the same origin.

I’m Ali Sabouki and I was born in September 21, 1985.At an early age,I was fortunate to discover my passion for Photography and Art Design. Exploring my creativity through many different lenses,I focused and honored my artistic strengths to the services I provide my clients today.
I attended University of Arts "set design" in 2008. During my education I experienced work as a designer in cinema and theater. Although Photography is my main media, I also use other media such as music, sculpture and performance in creating my artwork. With that said my main specialty is portrait and conceptual photography. In addition,I also teach conceptual portrait photography. Photography is a passion that has taken me to where I am in life as of now. It has taken me half way across the country to where I reside now, from where I grew up where it takes me after I am done here I do not know for sure.I hope it will take me to good and better places.
