Alpine Ibex have a hard time during the winter month, as they stay in the rough high alpine areas. To survive, they change their metabolism and reduce most activities. It's also the only moment when bother gender reunite and stay together for mating season.
Ski and skins brought me up to their home, where I have had two very intimate hours, being welcomed in their colony and taking photographs. Because of it's vulnerability to approach them you need to be very careful, calm and move as slow as possible. Any sort of stress, like an escape, can be a killer. Very often they leave, long before you are able to reach their place.
