Tussle (Series)
DESCRIPTION
A series of images shot in the Camargue of two young stallions interacting. The display of dominance was brief, necks were swung, manes flew and teeth flashed. Within seconds side by side grazing replaced the showmanship and aggression, it was almost as though nothing had ever happened....
AUTHOR
A fine art graduate in 1993, I became established as a portrait painter concentrating on equines. My photography was an important supportive role offering sharp working reference imagery.
Over the last 5 years my practice has become almost exclusively photographic, exploring styled portraiture and evocative images of the horse, sometimes as partners, sometimes alone.
During covid lockdowns I experimented with remote shooting and underwater imagery, something that I have now developed into scenes reminiscent of Renaissance art.
2019 and 2021 Runner Up
Julia Margaret Cameron Awards
Gallery exhibitions 19/20:
Guildhall Gallery, Stafford
Obsidian Art, Buckinghamshire
Ferens Gallery, Hull
