GAIA (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Once the navel cord between a human and emptiness is cut, one starts searching for what he used to.
Scatters and wears out while searching.
However, the first move is to stop. Then comes the eternity.
And Chaos appears again.
Emptiness grows and deepens.
Eternity is all about this circular motion.
In Greek Mythology, Gaia, also known as the ancestral mother of life, personifies the Earth and plays an essential role in the entire creation process. While I was doing research on a different subject, I coincidentally came across Gaia three years ago. Ever since I read about her, this mythological character and the whole narrative surrounding her made a nest in my thoughts.
In this project, I’ve tried to dwell on the stages in Gaia’s creation of the world, exploring similarities and parallelism with the circular nature of human existence.
AUTHOR
I was born in İzmir, Turkey, in 1993. I got my Bachelor's degree in Cinema and Digital Media, in 2017.
I’ve always been interested in philosophy.
In the last few years, I’ve particularly focused on the notion of time, inquiries of phenomenology as a field and the reality/illusion of existence.
In my work, leaving the subjectivity aside,
I try to question what a thing is in itself and also how unique perceptions are formed in the human mind through different cognitive processes. Creating multi-layered and fluid images, I aim to explore what’s behind the representation of a singular moment.
Besides my artistic production, I’ve been working at a technology company since 2019, holding the role of Digital Product and Services Manager to financially support my individual projects.
I've been interested in philosophy and visual arts.
My work’s only about the archaic questions humankind has been asking for thousands of years, yet still remain unanswered today.
