Retina is an autobiographical project that describes my very personal story as a visually impaired person. Specifically, I addressed the problem of visual impairment caused by continuous retinal detachments in both eyes. It all started when I was still a child and still continues, from then until today it has been a very long and very hard journey, an authentic ordeal, made up of numerous stages, many of which are terrible, others happier like this one, where I recently could approach photography. I was blind and then, to my great joy, I began to see again, so I collected all the emotions and sensations I experienced and transferred them into images, creating a very strong and emotional story, imbued with great suffering and resilience . Overcoming one's limits and never giving up are just some of the food for thought that Retina can offer, which in its own way becomes a useful attitude in the face of all the difficulties that life can present us.
Who knows what we are all capable of?

My name is Alessandro and I was born on April 23, 1977. In everyday life I work as a clerk and in my spare time I love to take pictures. My shots are mainly in black and white, whose marked contrast comes from the great photographers of the past and present to which I am inspired. Street photography, portraits, travel photography and conceptual photography are the genres I prefer, but the latter is definitely the one in which I recognize myself most. My style is essentially based on simplicity and immediacy of the concepts that I want to express and transmit. Each of my photos was born with the intent to tell the story by itself without the need for much explanation, so that anyone can enjoy it without great difficulty. Telling a story by
