Landscape nominee

Over several years, notably in the European Alps and Indian Himalayas, I’ve strived to create a series of ‘mountain portraits,’ distilling the very essence of these majestic peaks. As with a human or animal portrait I’ve tried to record their unique persona and character, capturing how the light plays on their expansive faces, to reveal myriad nuances and complexities - perhaps even vulnerabilities. This feels particularly resonant with sacred and revered peaks such as Kangchenjunga in Sikkim, India. Of course there’s personal element too, in my relationship and rapport with these mountains, which I express through clean composition and careful post-processing.
