DESCRIPTION
We live in a world cluttered by images: anyone can «take a picture», simply by taking out their phones. What story can I tell, that hasn’t already been told by a thousand other frames? That’s when I understood that to break through the clutter, I had to find a new way…maybe by transforming my pictures in something more than a mere «shot». I had to convey an emotion, a memory linked to the experience rather than concentrating on the moment itself. With this idea in the back of my head, I started working by overlapping shots, memories and emotions: different moments from a single trip that could merge into a single «painting». Each memory is a brush stroke with the power to convey the emotions that were felt in the overall trip, losing the conventional boundaries of a single shot and becoming something more.
AUTHOR
In 37 years of life there has always been one constant, an obvious presence that my family could never do without: photography. For me it had the importance of a sister and the shape of a huge bag containing my father's Hasselblad with all its lenses and rolls of film. Then it turned into a friend and a playmate when I had the opportunity to shoot and play with first the smaller Minolta and then the more practical digitalcamera, with which I began to make my first photographic experiments.
Since then I photograph for passion, for work, to take mental notes, to narrate a journey. I photograph out of impulse, but always careful to produce an image with a story and an aesthetic.
For me, it has become a way to capture and record stimuli and moments; to create a personal database of my travel memories to reprocess at leisure. I realized that by speaking in pictures I can elicit more emotions and smiles than with stories.
