This portrait series is composed of five photos taken on 35mm film. It is reinventing the color-tinting method from the movies during the silent era and the photos tell the story of a man suffering from insomnia due to constantly questioning and uncertainty about his own existence, just like a lot of us living in current times.
Because of the pandemic outbreak in 2019, a lot of us were only able to stay indoors and were unable to meet each other face to face; as days go by anxiety and uncertainty eventually started to seep into our minds. And during that moment, all of us could only look back to the past where we need not be in solitude but had connected with others freely and comfortably; this is the major idea to be expressed in this work in which we have reached the era of more reminiscing and treasuring time.
The reinvention of the color tinting method in silent films in this portrait work is used as the medium for representing reminiscence since it is the golden age of filmmaking, and it was when people started to create stories with real people.
