Worsley's Parlor (Single)
DESCRIPTION
This is what entertainment used to look like before cell phones, endless streaming services and Xboxes. One can envision someone playing the piano, doing a jigsaw puzzle, playing scrabble or charades. The T.V. obviously has lousy reception. The image captures an era on the edge of going by. The house is on Pulpit Harbor on North Haven, ME. The sand on the floor I photographed on a beach over on Marshall's Island. Almost all of my images include patterns of waves and elements of the natural world encroaching into homes as a transparent reminder of whence we came and where we will return. We are wired to build houses, to lay down sturdy legacies not made of straw. We want to pass on the gift of shelter. We want to be lovingly remembered. We would like to control the future even when we are gone. The owners of this house seem to understand the folly in that.
