“When I woke up everything was blue. I felt something caressing my face, but as I got up, its touch faded away. I felt like I was floating for a moment, but not enough for my feet to come off the floor which made me tingle.
I could hear the crash of the waves in the distance but was not afraid. As I released my body into the water I began to see clouds. They moved like shoals, I could almost hear them sing. They reminded me of the cotton candy that I loved to eat in August.
I heard my name being called by myself from above. I pulled my neck back and caught a glimpse of myself swimming dead when I was 8 years old.
I blinked and the waves broke my vision, causing some rocks to start falling. The rocks that Chiquín left did not sink to the bottom, they floated, danced on top of me like a special spectacle.
It's easier down here.
I sighed."
This work is about how it felt for me to hit rock bottom and acknowledge my past.
