Hallowed Ground (Single)
DESCRIPTION
The original title to this piece was More Than You Know and it probably should have read More Than I Know! This is a room full of memories of old friends from the island dancing and laughing. One day the house, unbeknownst to my friend who was living there, was sold by her father. It went dark and then there was just stunned silence. What I hoped to create was a space for remembrance. I hoped to create an open sanctuary for anyone to lie down on that couched to look up at the clouds, feel the breeze, the warmth of the sun and to listen to the eternal flooding and ebbing of the tide. When my wife's best friend died she lay down on that couch in her mind's eye and felt embraced by a breathing death mask. It was as if the picture was the embodiment of love. We renamed the image Hallowed Ground.
