The fly has different meanings in art. It is often perceived as a negative omen, equated with death or the devil. In baroque vanitas paintings, it stands for transience. It can be seen on many works of art as a singular image. But it also stands for the courage and perseverance of the respective creator, for movement, change and the illusion of time. Somehow, the interesting creature often accompanies me, so I really wanted to photograph it.
The photographs were taken with the help of a microscope camera, which has a small error and changes the positives into negatives. The photo shoot is therefore similar to an X-ray.
If you turn the fly lying on its back, it seems to come alive, the image doesn't seem so negative anymore (and reverse). The second one is similar. Some might recognize a skull in the body of the fly.
