Abstract nominee

The series "Light in Space" decontextualizes the scientific foundations of light as a photographic element. It favors the concept over the form in an attempt to reduce the form itself to an almost suprematist simplicity. The photographer experiments with light, dominates it in the composition and challenges ad libitum the arrangement of colors, shapes and patterns. In the image new structures are conceived, from referents that have not been seized from reality, but rather have been created entirely by the artist through his 30-second experimentation with the light. The object is not the point of focus, and neither is the reality, but it is the creative process; the mere enjoyment of art for the grace of pure art, the uncertainty, the freedom of the gesture. It is a poetic approach to lyrical abstraction as an expression of emotions. Although for photography in general, light signifies the raw material of its potential to evoke emotions; in this specific series light paints the dance of forms, bodies and mythological beings that confront and approach each other like planets, asteroids, stars and particles; They are light in space.

Milton Sosa is a photographer, video maker and graphic designer from Havana, Cuba. He loves to share how he see the world through the pictures he takes, inspired by pretty much any and all facets of this beautiful life, grand and bold through unpretentious and dainty.
