Architecture nominee

This is a view of a residential island in Le Havre. These buildings were built after the Second World War in a standard grid of prefabricated components. Building material was scarce. In contrast to the concrete that is usually used, these buildings form colourful residential islands between the otherwise grey concrete buildings. The yellow shutters, which are at different heights and are weathered in different ways, show that the flats are being used.

Johanna Hurter is a professional photographer from Stuttgart Germany. She is pursuing several long-term projects that focus on the interactions between humans and nature. Her work has been awarded in numerous international photography competitions.
