The memory of women, silenced for a long time, described the political and social changes with different sensitivities and language. Maria Luisa di Borbone and Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi became the keystone for a story that until now has been only partially told.
A new point of view for the analysis of a very complex historical period when Europe was dominated by Napoleon. Compared with the traditional historiography, the negative assessment of the sovereigns has been completely redesigned. Her memories build the identity of sovereigns continually tested. They endowed with fortitude, intelligence, and resourcefulness. They were careful observers of the cultural and artistic dimension of their time.
Female heroines who ruled in solitude and defended their autonomy.
They reveal the active role of women in the cultural life of the XIX century and they deserve to be remembered in the history of art, music and feminism.
The artist's language is abstract and timeless. The decay precipitates in colder, yet vibrant colours. The expanses of colour create a dazzling visual amplitude. Although they do not have a relationship with reality, they retain its essence. The shapes lead you into a universal tale where contrasts always find a way to complete each other.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Nicoletta Cerasomma is a photographer and surrealist pop artist with a clear, graphic and strong language. Her studies in fashion photography and her experience in staged photography inspired her meticulous aesthetic.
Her work is highly conceptual and complex: as surrealist artist, she incorporates archetypes and cultural iconography with satirical narratives inspired by the collective unconsciousness. Her images come from a personal place of exploration where she dreams about living a thousand lives in one.
With language typical of pop surrealism and a predilection for abstract composition, her photography has become a narrative medium with a unique and recognisable visual code. She works with light, shadow and colour to create images that evoke stories and provoke fantasies.
Nicoletta is inspired by the dichotomy between the themes of Beauty and Decay, which she loves to incorporate into her work in order to evoke contemplation and debate on the human condition, using a vivid and provocative still imagery and a cinematic technique.
Since 2020, her work, which depicts women placed in evocative scenarios, has won many nominations and awards. Presented for the first time in the Sony World Photography Award competition, her work was selected as a winner finalist in the creative category.
