3003: Futura Flora (Series)
DESCRIPTION
It’s the year 3003. Climate change has ravaged the biosphere beyond recognition, leaving behind scorched earth and inhospitable lands. The remaining population has turned plant life into markers of luxury: weeds and grasses, historically crushed under the feet of pedestrians without a second thought, now inspire invaluable garments. Nature became a precious commodity in the world we destroyed – a concept that teeters between haunting possibility and looming reality.
AUTHOR
My career as a visual artist began in Port-au-Prince, Haïti where I've spent most of my early life, before relocating to Montreal, Canada in 2012. My work is motivated by the idea that photography is a perpetual ongoing research and practice of refined perception and visual language. I am heavily influenced by the literary and cultural aesthetic of Afrofuturism with a focus on identity.
