It's a selfie of my personal art project on exploring the flexibility limit of woman body. As an amateurish Chinese folk dancer and a yogi, I was severely injured in an accident with the fragmentation of crucial ligament of my right knee joint, which resulted in a restriction of some sports like jumping and running. Whatever lost is lost, I put more focus on those exercises I am still able to do to fight against aging and also to see how much I can push my body to its limitation of flexibility as a woman in her fifties.
Artistic wise, rather than shooting directly, I framed the subject in the mirror for adding some sense of drama and a bit more dimension.

Salma X.D. Luo is a self-taught portrait photographer based in southern China. She specializes in using fabric, flower and other seasonal elements to express the feminine beauty and the deep connection between women and nature, life and season.

Before starting a career in photography, she worked for IBM for nearly 10 years and gained multicultural experiences with frequent international business trips. Nevertheless, due to a lack of interest in office work, she quit and spent years in backpacking off-the-beaten-track, which is the cause and also the key inspiration of her path in photography.
