This series represents the many ways women are haunted by being violated. Not only physically and emotionally, but by the methods we often don’t think about including such as lack of education, double standards, health care, and the list goes on and on. The series is not about condemning religion, but women often turn to religion for help. This is a dark subject that most contests don’t like to include but we must continue to raise awareness and stop sweeping it under the rug because it’s ugly. The art community has a responsibility to spread the word in a unique way.
The night light is the light at the end of the tunnel for there is always hope.
I grew up during the 60s and 70s, when we were fighting for equal rights. Now I am sixty-three, and we are still fighting for equal rights. Not just in in United States, but in many countries around the world. Women are dying because their hair blows in the wind. Honor killings still occur. To many, this may seem like an old, worn-out story. But to the women who are fighting the good fight, the battle rages on.
